Art Materials & Studio

Back to Photo Album

More than you ever wanted to know about what materials I use... and the changing state of my art table. :)

My palette colors -- since then I've added Naples yellow and Paynes Gray

The way I arrange my colors. I've had this old, cracked palette for about 10 years now.

Recently added a travel palette for my favorite colors, so I can go outside :)

I keep my watercolor brushes in a bamboo thingy.

These are the three I use most often.

Liquid frisket and the Incredible Nib! (It makes frisket fun!)

All of my watercolors come in tubes. I use M.Graham, Holbein, and Winsor & Newton.

My handy little cup thingys. And dirty old sponge. ;)

My Prismacolor pencils -- current ones in the wallet thingy, and replacements in the tin.

My ink box! Mostly Daler-Rowney Artist's Acrylic ink with some Winsor & Newton here and there. Also calligraphy pens/nibs.

Some nice burnt sienna and the trusty crow quill pen.

My fairly recent new toy -- Rapidograph technical pens.

Jar of pencils and drafting brush.... I like to use the H pencils best for sketching. 3H especially.

Other essentials... Q-tips to smudge colored pencils, a frisket pick-up, salt, water bottle, etc.

Oil and acrylic brushes.

My shoebox of acrylics. :) I use mainly M.Graham and Golden brands. And I cannot do without my Acrylic Glaze Medium!

I use a butcher's tray for an acrylic palette. Here is "Hamadryad" in the works. :)

I'm trying to learn oils! Not very good yet!

Sketching time...

And a sketch directly on the watercolor paper.

Beginning a watercolor painting.

Is that "Flowers of the Field" in the works???

A very rare glimpse of a *clean* workstation.

The same.

Taped watercolor paintings in progress.

More watercolor stuff!
